Course Overview

Year 6 students will be consolidating their understanding, fluency, problem-solving and reasoning as an integral part of mathematics content across the three content strands: number and algebra, measurement and geometry, and statistics and probability. These course topics reinforce the significance of working mathematically within the content and describe how the content is explored or developed. Students will explore the language to build in the developmental aspects of the learning of mathematics and working mathematically confidently and fluently. Their achievement reflects the content and their able to understand, problem solve, reasoning that includes explaining mental strategies and fluency to performing calculations.

Course Overview

Students learn to communicate effectively by thinking about language specific to a text and their purpose. They need to be able to think deeply about the text they read and watch and be able to express these thoughts and ideas. It also requires students to read and view a wide variety of texts, from novels, visual images and film. Hence students must also be able to identify and analyse techniques and explore more themes and ideas. Furthermore students will be to be able to present their ideas in written and imaginative ways by writing creatives and extended responses.
